What Does It Means to Be United Methodist?
The United Methodist Church has a rich heritage rooted in the faith journey of John Wesley, its spiritual founder.  Explore that heritage, its beliefs and its legacy to us today in this interactive 3-hour workshop.  

Topics include:

  • Our Wesleyan Heritage - the life and faith journey of John and Charles Wesley
  • John Wesley's Theology - understanding "grace" and other basic beliefs of the Christian faith in the Wesleyan tradition
  • Wesleyan Quadrilateral - the Wesleyan "method" for growing in Christian discipleship
  • The Sacraments - how we open ourselves to God through baptism and Holy Communion
  • How Do Methodists "Do" Church? - understanding Methodist practices, the "connectional" system and its impact on the local church and the world

Why Should I Attend?

This program is open to all, especially if:
  • You're new to the United Methodist Church and need to know more about our beliefs and practices
  • You've decided to join Aldersgate UMC and want to begin at the beginning
  • You're already a member or regular attender and you've never attended a program like this or would like a refresher
