The vision that fuels our work in Children’s Ministries grows out of Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
In the midst of a consuming ministry to adults, Jesus regularly ministered to children. We believe the future of the church depends on effective ministry to children today. Our Children's Ministry staff is committed to fulfilling Jesus' teachings.

Children's Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes begin when a child has celebrated his/her 4th birthday by September 1st of the current year. The children meet in age appropriate classes with trained volunteer teachers. Aldersgate uses a United Methodist curriculum, Rock Solid: Building a Heart of Faith, to enhance their Christian learning.

Nursery
 Our nursery is available during both worship services and during the Sunday School hour. Nursery care is provided for children up to 4 years of age. The nursery is also available during our Wednesday activities, and during special events throughout the year. Our nursery is staffed by nurturing, caring employees.
K.O.O.L. Club
The K.O.O.L. (Kids of Our Lord) Club meets on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. for a time of fellowship and fun. This group is for children in 3rd through 5th grades. Leaders for the Club are Kate Nelson and Monica Godwin.
Joyful Voices
The Joyful Voices is our children’s choir made up of 3rd-5th graders. The children and their director meet each Sunday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and sing their praises during worship services throughout the year. This group is led by Nicci Thrower and Mark Thrower.
Acolyte Ministry
This program is for children in 4th through 6th grades who wish to be trained and participate in the worship service as acolytes, lighting candles and assisting with other parts of the service.
Little Praisers
Aldersgate’s Little Praisers is for Pre-school age children through Kindergarten. Children who attend the 11:00 worship service are dismissed after the Children's Message, and gather in a classroom for age-appropriate songs, prayers, and short lessons. The Little Praisers are led by adult volunteers and youth helpers.
Boy Scouts
Boy Scout Troop 753, sponsored by Aldersgate UMC, is open to all boys in the community. Begun in the spring of 1998, the troop offers opportunities for camping, community involvement and leadership training in a nurturing environment. The troop meets every Monday night at 6:30 p.m. The age level for the troop is 10 1/2 or 6th grade. For more information about Troop 753, visit www.troop753.org/.
Seasonal Events
Back to School Bash
Each year we hold a back to school bash in August.
Christmas Pageant
Each year the children of Aldersgate, led by our Joyful Voices choir, display their talent to God's glory in a Christmas pageant. The program is usually on a Sunday evening in December.
Easter Egg Hunt
Children's Council and Aldersgate United Methodist Women sponsor an annual Easter Egg Hunt and craft time for the children.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is held at Aldersgate for one week each June. Click here to learn more about this year's VBS program.
Children's Council
The Children's Council meets monthly to support programs for the children of Aldersgate and is chaired by Cindy Carlisle.
